As the beloved Chevrolet Equinox is approaching a redesign for the 2021 model year, this is the perfect time to look back on the legacy of the midsize crossover SUV. Let’s jump back in time to the start of this SUV’s impressive history.
Although it may seem like the Chevrolet Equinox has been around for a long time, it’s a newer member of the Chevrolet lineup that joined less than 20 years ago. In 2003, the first Equinox made its public debut at the Detroit Auto Show. The Equinox was an innovative addition to the Chevrolet lineup since the SUV catered to families who wanted efficiency and compact size, instead of the off-road utility and power that characterized other Chevrolet SUVs, like the Tahoe.
The Equinox bore a fitting name for a crossover. Just as the equinox is the time of the year when day and night are equal, the Chevrolet Equinox is the perfect balance of a sedan’s efficiency and comfort and an SUV’s height and versatility.
Over the years, the Chevrolet Equinox has undergone multiple updates and redesigns to provide drivers with the latest style, safety and technology trends. This continual evolution has given the Equinox a consistent appeal every year and has helped it stand out in the competitive SUV segment. This ongoing appeal will undoubtedly continue through the next phase of the Equinox that will arrive this fall in the form of the 2021 Equinox. You’ll be able to buy this refreshed crossover from Hornbeck Chevrolet, so be sure to call us to be notified when it arrives.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame is well-known in the U.S. for showcasing the names of famous actors, musicians and others. Now, the Chevrolet Suburban has received an Award of Excellence star, making it the first-ever vehicle with this accomplishment.
The Chevrolet Suburban has long been a staple in television series and movies, having first appeared on film in 1952. In total, the Suburban has been in over 1,750 television shows and films. Its success in Hollywood is, in part, due to its versatility, which allows it to fit well in different scenes.
Rana Ghadban, CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, said, “Appearing in classic feature films and on must-see television shows, the Suburban is a well-established industry mainstay.”
The Chevrolet Tahoe has also played a substantial role in Hollywood. Combined with the Suburban, the two vehicles have made an appearance in over 2,500 television shows and films.
In order to earn a star, someone needed to first nominate the Chevrolet Suburban. Each year, approximately 300 applications are submitted for stars, and only 34 were chosen in 2019, with the Suburban being one of the few to be selected for this honor.
Check out the SUV’s versatile design and advanced features when you test-drive the 2020 Chevrolet Suburban at Hornbeck Chevrolet.
The winter season can add new driving hazards, like snow and ice, and accordingly require you to replace certain components of your vehicle. Prepare your Chevrolet vehicle for winter by inspecting your car’s parts and having a service technician repair them as needed.
To help prevent your vehicle from being stranded with a dead battery, ensure that the battery terminals and cables are in good condition. If you see any corrosion on the posts and terminals, you should remove it.
You may want to consider replacing your tires with snow tires so that you can have more traction on snowy roads. The changing temperatures can also affect your tire pressure, so be sure your tires are properly inflated. In addition, if your tires don’t have enough tread, you should have your tires replaced at a dealership’s service department.
Wiper blades can help you have necessary visibility during snowstorms, so it’s important that you replace the wiper blades if they are not functioning properly. Wiper blades shouldn’t miss spots or leave streaks. You may also want to use winter wiper blades, which can help prevent ice buildup.
We at Hornbeck Chevrolet encourage you to visit our service department to have your vehicle properly inspected and have components repaired or replaced.
Earlier this year, Chevrolet announced that the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt range will increase by 21 miles over the previous Bolt, offering a total range of 259 miles. This means that you can now drive the Bolt EV more confidentially on your daily commutes.
“The Bolt EV set the benchmark for long-range, affordable electric vehicles, and we’re excited to raise the bar by offering nearly 10 percent more EPA-estimated range for the 2020 model year,” remarked Tim Grewe, director of Global Battery Cell Engineering and Strategy. Getting an extra 21 miles out of the Bolt EV did not require a new physical battery pack or a change in how the battery is integrated into the Bolt. Instead, the Chevrolet battery engineering team was able to alter the cell electrodes’ energy to enact the change.
Chevrolet also revealed that they are partnering with Qmerit so you can more easily have charging equipment installed at your home. You will be able to seamlessly get quotes from certified electricians and then charge while in the comfort of your home.
We at Hornbeck Chevrolet are glad that Chevrolet is making the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt more convenient to drive around Forest City, PA. Check out all the Chevrolet vehicles we offer at our dealership.
Chevrolet recently revealed the all-new Corvette C8. The 2020 Corvette has lots of great new updates, but the most exciting update of all is the movement of the engine from the front of the car to behind the passengers. The 2020 Corvette C8 has been redesigned as a mid-engine sports car, making it the first Corvette to have the engine in this location. The engine is a 6.2-liter V8 engine, which reaches 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
Using the steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles or the center console’s push-button gear selector, you can control the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Manual transmission is no longer offered. If you elect for the available Z51 Performance package, the car receives summer tires and an electronic limited-slip rear differential to better handle the power.
The interior of the all-new Corvette C8 is luxurious with metal and leather materials. While sitting in the driver’s seat, you can easily utilize the 12-inch gauge display and the infotainment touchscreen, which conveniently faces the driver’s seat. You can also control the climate-control system with switches, giving you the ultimate comfort while driving.
With so many new features and innovative design, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 is a welcome new model. We at Hornbeck Chevrolet in Forest City, PA encourage you to visit our dealership and learn more about the sports car.
The 2019 Blazer is making waves with its bold styling, powerful performance, and great looks. But, today’s stylish, two-row crossover is very different from the early generations of the Chevrolet Blazer. When looking back at the Blazer over the years, it’s clear that the model received many great updates throughout the years that led to the current model’s rugged styling and great off-roading features.
In 1989, the Chevrolet K5 Blazer was truck-based and got its power from the rugged 5.7-liter V8 engine. Paired with a GM four-speed automatic unit, the engine delivered 210 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. Today’s model has a smaller base with the 2.5-liter LCV I4 engine and pairs its engine with a smooth GM nine-speed automatic gearbox.
The Blazer K5 name was later discontinued, and the vehicle became a smaller SUV that was accordingly renamed to Chevrolet Tahoe. Now, the latest model is a crossover called the Blazer. Today’s crossover meets the current demands for a sporty, modern ride.
All of us at Hornbeck Chevrolet in Forest City, PA are proud to offer the 2019 Blazer at our dealership. Come take a test drive in the crossover to see all its modern tech and features firsthand, and if you have any questions or would like to test drive one, please let us know. Since 2015, one of the exclusive safety features in Chevrolet Vehicles is Teen Driver technology. The idea of the system is to help parents monitor their teen driver from afar and teach the teenager better driving habits. After much success, Teen Driver is reportedly getting a big upgrade for 2020.
The system already includes features, such as muting the radio when seatbelts are not buckled, setting speed restrictions on the vehicle and recording how often different smart safety systems go off. Parents can also learn what their teens are doing well and what they need improvement on by looking at a report card of PIN-protected data.
For the 2020 model year, the Teen Driver system will now be standard in different Chevrolet models, including the 2020 Chevrolet Traverse, 2020 Malibu and 2020 Colorado. The newest version of the system will add Buckle to Drive, which is a feature that will disallow teens from shifting into Drive from Park if their seatbelts are unbuckled. The goal of Buckle to Drive is to make sure teenagers buckle up since a seat belt is such an important safety feature.
Safety is a huge priority when it comes to driving, additional safety features for new drivers, such as teenagers, can be incredibly important. Visit us at Hornbeck Chevrolet in Forest City, PA, and we will be more than happy to discuss safety features, like Teen Driver.
